“Mirlet has been teaching our neurodivergent son for seven years. In that time, he has taught, nurtured, and provided physical and emotional guidance for him in both classes and one-on-one settings. He is patient, kind, creative, and supportive, which has made an incredible impact on our son's life.”

“Mirlet coached our child with such relentless passion and enthusiasm. Through a combination of techniques and activities like movement, music, and martial arts (Capoeira), our daughter became more skillful in learning to better communicate, plan, form partnerships and experiment. (And picked up some Portuguese along the way!)
My daughter’s ongoing work with Mirlet soon evolved into dance lessons, track and field, and social hangout planning. By coaching her through activities where she may have once been apprehensive, he helped her believe she was so much more capable than she thought she was.
Mirlet is a wonderfully warm, caring soul whom I credit with teaching my daughter important life skills. With his help, she began putting on her own socks when she was very young, an activity she resisted until he set expectations and empowered her to try. From there, they moved on to other seemingly simple tasks that she can now master. Working together was all so much more than just Capoeira, because frankly no one I know has a sock coach quite like Mirlet.”

“Mirlet has been working with our SPOTS Summer Camp kids for more than 7 years. He is experienced, caring, funny and most importantly, the kids enjoy learning and participating in the different Capoeira movements. This activity also helps them with their confidence and social interactions! The kids enjoy it so much that the parents will sign them up for private sessions. It's always a pleasure to have Mirlet as part of our Summer Camp.”

“As a senior talent development specialist at The Quad Manhattan, Mirlet has served hundreds of children since 2010 with grace, compassion, and expertise. His training with us in twice exceptional education has made him a leader on and off campus. Our students can't wait to work with him year after year to develop crucial social-emotional, Capoeira, athletic, and swimming skills. Through movement, Mirlet opens doors for students that may have otherwise been closed. A truly progressive educator, Mirlet's kindness and understanding speaks volumes to his work.”
– Ashley, Quad Manhattan Managing Director
“Our child is sensitive, anxious, and can become emotionally disordered. Mirlet was very patient and understanding while engaging our child in kinetic movement activity. He set a step by step plan with our child and created layered goals. He worked with us as parents also as he informed us of the challenges, plans and ultimate accomplishments of our child. He has a great understanding of the child’s perspective and emotional outlook and used that knowledge to encourage our boy to meet his goals.”
